Deja vu

One of my dearest friends Jessica and I have been through so much together. We support each other through thick and thin. Combined, we have had some of the most interesting dating experiences. In order to get a good laugh (because otherwise we would cry right? Let's face it, it is hard being a single LDS woman), we have decided to write a book cataloging our various experiences in our quest for our prince. Here is my latest chapter.

Deja Vu

(names have been changed to protect the not so innocent. If the subjects of this story happen to come across this blog post, please accept it for what it is, an expression of my feelings, not any kind of attack. I still think you are both fantastic gentlemen.)

Salt Lake City, Utah, Christmas time, 2008

Laura was going through life quite contentedly. She was working as a nurse on an infant unit at the local hospital and loved her job! She felt comfortable about furthering her education by obtaining her masters degree. She felt like she had a warm circle of friends that supported her. She was choir director in the ward, had just made her debut in local community theater, and she had a great fish named Elmer! Things seemed to be going great for Laura. She was surprised that things got even better when a great guy named John started coming around! He showed some interest in Laura, which Laura reciprocated as best as she knew how. She held hands with him, cuddled with him, invited him over, was excited to see him and hear from him, shared with him her interests and took interest in his interests, cooked him food, etc etc. Laura was super excited about this new development. This was the first time that someone Laura wanted to date wanted to date her back! But suddenly Elmer died, and John became aloof. Laura didn't know what happened, John stopped calling. After a couple of weeks, John was mature enough to sit down with Laura to discuss events. Laura was surprised to learn that John had been gung ho at the beginning, but started thinking that Laura was not interested! Laura emphatically asserted that she just isn't very good at dating and showing physical affection, but was definitely interested and just tell her what you need, she would make it better!! Well, by this time it was too late. Instead of talking to Laura and clearing it up, John started dating someone else. Really? It only took 2 weeks to replace Laura? Burn.

New Haven, Connecticut, Christmas time, 2010

Laura was going through life quite contentedly. She was working as a nurse on an infant unit at the local hospital and loved her job! She felt comfortable about furthering her education by obtaining her masters degree. She felt like she had a warm circle of friends that supported her. She was choir director in the branch, had just made her debut with a solo at the stake Christmas concert, and she had a great fish named Apollo! Things seemed to be going great for Laura. She was surprised that things got even better when a great guy named Jack started coming around! He showed some interest in Laura, which Laura reciprocated as best as she knew how. She held hands with him, cuddled with him, invited him over, was excited to see him and hear from him, shared with him her interests and took interest in his interests, cooked him food, etc etc. Laura was super excited about this new development. This was the second time that someone Laura wanted to date wanted to date her back! But suddenly Apollo died, and Jack became aloof. Laura didn't know what happened, Jack stopped calling. After a couple of weeks, Laura was mature enough to sit down with Jack to discuss events. Laura was surprised to learn that Jack had been gung ho at the beginning, but started thinking that Laura was not interested! Laura emphatically asserted that she just isn't very good at dating and showing physical affection, but was definitely interested and just tell her what you need, she would make it better!! Well, by this time it was too late. Instead of talking to Laura and clearing it up, Jack started dating someone else. Really? It only took 2 weeks to replace Laura? Burn.

I don't think I'll get a new fish.

Huh, it is a remarkable coincidence. Alas. I'm posting this comment from my phone! Feeling pretty cool.

Hahaha! I didn't realize the part about the fish. So sad. You should get a dog.
